# Introduction

In preparation for taking the [OSCP](https://www.offensive-security.com/pwk-oscp/) sometime soon when I'm financially able, I created a Gitbook to document and share to the community how I did the boxes from TJ Null's [list](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dwSMIAPIam0PuRBkCiDI88pU3yzrqqHkDtBngUHNCw8/edit#gid=1839402159). **I will primarily focus on** [**Hack the Box**](https://www.hackthebox.eu/home) **retired machines and may from time to time try out the** [**VulnHub**](https://www.vulnhub.com/) **machines.** 

To have access on HTB's retired machines, you need to have a VIP subscription which costs around 10GBP each month. I recently won 3 months of access(thanks to [@BlindHacker](https://twitter.com/TheBlindHacker) and [@DeadPixelSec](https://twitter.com/DeadPixelSec)).

HacktheBox have 160+ machines(and counting as boxes get released weekly). Not all of them is in the list mentioned above, as some boxes requires techniques that is not directly useful to the OSCP.

In the case of Vulnhub, you can simply download the image or iso and run them using a virtualization software.
